Funeral services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton. Interment: Free German Reformed Salem Church Cemetery near Sutton. Visitation: Monday, 1-8 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family. Arrangements by Sutton Memorial Chapel.

Former Sutton resident Allen P. Griess, 66, died Saturday, December 10, 2011, at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, NE.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton, NE with the Free German Reformed Salem Church Elders officiating. Interment will be at the Free German Reformed Salem Church Cemetery near Sutton, NE. Visitation will be Monday, from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton, NE. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Sutton Memorial Chapel is in charge of arranements.
Allen was born November 7, 1945, in Fillmore County, NE to Pauly and Johanna(Griess) Griess. He received his education at District #8 country school in Fillmore County and graduated from Sutton High School. On August 21, 1969, he married Salome Huber in Sutton, NE. He was formerly co-owner of A&L Electric, Plumbing and Heating in Sutton, NE.
He is survived by his wife Salome of Lincoln, NE; son Scott (Melanie) Griess of Ulysses, NE; daughter, Jacqueline Griess of Overland Park, KS; six grandchildren; father, Pauly Griess of Grafton, NE; sisters, Darlene (Rich) Rolfes of Tampa, FL; Suzanne (Robert) Carpenter of Hastings, NE; and brother Vern (Ruth Ann) Griess of Grafton, NE.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Johanna and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
