Adolph Sayler, 81, Sacramento, CA resident since 1929, died Thursday, April 11, 1985 in a Sacramento hospital after a few months of illness. Funeral services were held April 13, 1 p.m. in the chapel of Sacramento Memorial Lawn Mortuary and Cemetery with Pastor Wally Lundeen of St. Luke's Lutheran Church officiating. His son, Gordon, gave the eulogy.
Adolph was born August 30, 1903 near Wishek the son of John Sayler and Magdalena (Bier) Sayler. He married Amelia Rath in 1928 in Zeeland. They moved to the Sacramento area in 1929 where he attended Barber College. He worked for W.C. McPheeters as Post barber, at Mather Air Field, Mills California, for Mr. Ross at 28th and Broadway in Sacramento (which later became Sayler's Barber Shop). After selling his business in 1959 he continued to work in various barber shops until his retirement in 1974.
He was a member of St. Lukes American Lutheran Church for 51 years. He was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters, Loyal Order of the Moose and the International Order of the Eagles, Son's of Retirement Inc., Country Club Branch No. 33, and the Sacramento Polka Booster Club.
He is survived by his wife, Amelia, two sons, Gordon, Bellevue, WA; Norman, Norden, CA; two brothers, Edward of Wishek, Edwin of Lehr; six sisters, Lydia Knoll and Katherine Golz of Ashley, Bertha Knoll of Venturia, Paulina Ketterling and Martha Ketterling of Wishek, Freida Deyle of Billings, MT and four grandchildren.
