Viola Waterbury was born November 5, 1929 east of Herrick, South Dakota on the Klundt farm to Fred and Ernestine (Ulmer) Frank. She died February 17, 2005 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke, South Dakota at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 12 days. Viola was born to a family of four brothers and four sisters. She attended rural schools in Gregory County, South Dakota, including the Allum School through the eighth grade. She and her sisters loved to pull pranks. She was united in marriage to Orville Waterbury on January 14, 1951 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Burke, South Dakota. She was Orville's help on the farm. She would milk cows or feed pigs to help her husband out. Viola loved to cook. She made great ham and bean soup, as well as knip. There was always something baked for family and visitors. She enjoyed embroidery, playing cards, playing bingo, but most of all, loved her grandchildren. The last time she saw her grandsons they all played in the mud. She told Kenny and Brenda not to be mad, because her sons had done the same thing. Viola was a charter and life-time member of the Herrick Legion Auxiliary; a member of the Burke VFW Auxiliary; St. John's Lutheran Church in Herrick and later Grace Lutheran Church in Burke. Viola was preceded in death by her parents; brother John Frank; sister Sara Goodman; brothers-in-law: Cal Allum, Walt Waterbury, George Waterbury, and Wilbur Campbell; sisters-in-law: Mildred Waterbury, Patsy Frank, Irene Campbell and Virgnia Frank.

Viola heiratete Waterbury, Orville A. am 14 Jan 1951 in Burke, Gregory County, South Dakota, USA.
