    Note:
There are many different spellings for both the first and last name. I have kept the different spellings as they occurred in the different documents. For the memorial I chose Wenrich to make it easier to find in a search.
An Embarkation List of Germans from the Rhineland going to London in 1709 included Balzar Weinrich with his wife, a daughter and three sons (ages 7, 5 and 3). Balzar was listed as a husbandman and vinedresser.
A Colonial Census of Palatines at New York in 1710 shows the family comprised of Baltzar (40), Elizabeth (30), Maria Eliz. (17), Hans George (9) and Johan Maltheis (6).
About 1717, a "Simmendinger Register" listed Balthasar Wenrig at Wormsdorff, a camp on the Hudson above New York.
Records of the Kingston, New York Dutch Church show Baltus and Magdalena Wenrig as baptismal sponsors for a grandson, Baltus Beshore, on July 31, 1720.
In 1722 the Palatines were invited to Pennsylvania where they would be given land for homes. It appears that Balser Wennerick may have first gone to Lancaster Co. as he was taxed there in 1724 and 1726.
However, in 1726, he was also a baptismal sponsor for Mathias' son, Balthaser, along with his wife, Magdalene, at the Little Tulpehocken Church west of Bernville.
A third wife, Catharine Weidman, appears when she and Balthasar Wendrich marry on February 6, 1739 at the New Holland Lutheran Church in Lancaster County.
It is not known when Balzar died, but the first Wenrich ancestors were buried in the Northkill Churchyard north of Bernville.

Name: Also found as Johan Maltheis and other variations.
Birth: Contributor Hannah Wenrich (#49104877) has the birth as August 11, 1704, but as I cannot independently verify the information, I am hesitant to make it an official entry--though it could very well be correct! More information welcome.
Married: Judith. (Conventional wisdom indicates that this was Judith Schauer, daughter of Johannes Michael and Anna Magdalena Schauer, but I do not know of a primary source that confirms this. Information welcome!)
There were seven sons and four daughters.
Seven of his children were baptized at the Little Tulpehocken Church west of Bernville. In 1726, Balthaser Wenderich and wife Maria Magdalene were baptismal sponsors there for Mathias' son John Balthaser Wenrich.
In 1739, Mathias bought land from Conrad Weiser on Spring Creek (later Furnace Creek) in what is now Heidelberg Twp., Berks County (see upper map). Mathias called a portion of his property "Wenericka" (see lower map).
Mathias took a naturalization oath in 1744 and the Oath of Allegiance in 1777.
He deeded part of the homestead to his son Mathias in 1774 and moved to Tulpehocken where he was a member of the Frieden's Church.
On January 8, 1784, Mathias made a will in which he stated that he was of Tulpehocken Township and named his wife, six sons and four daughters, along with their husbands. He also stated that he was "infirm and sickly" and signed it with his initials. An assumption is made that he died near to his home.
N.B. Although all of the children are listed below, legitimate memorials are still needed for Conrad, Michael, and Susannah as these memorials all are "burial unknown." Also note that Conrad died prior to 1784.

It has been thought that Mathias was the third of eleven children, and records show a Mathias baptized on September 16, 1729 at Little Tulpehocken Church west of Bernville.
A record of gravestone transcriptions from ca. 1930, however, gives the date of birth as 1833. Indeed there is also a baptismal record for Mattheis Wendrich, son of Matheis, from Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Holland, Lancaster, Pennsylvania from September, 1733.
It is possible then that two sons named Mathias were born, the first dying young. While more research may shed more light on these dates, the other details of Ens. Wenrich's life remain the same.
In 1739, Mathias' father bought land from Conrad Weiser in Heidelberg Twp., near Robesonia, and this became the family homestead (see top map).
He married first Eva Rosine (Ephrosina) Schauer (ca. 1733 - ca 1782).
Four times between 1778 and 1781, "Mathias Wenrich and wife Eva Rosine" were named as baptismal sponsors at the St. Daniel's (Corner) and Altalaha Churches. This establishes his wife's first name. Her maiden name comes from the family tradition that Mathias married a Schauer daughter. This seems likely as Mathias was an executor of the estates of Michael and Elizabeth Schauer, and Michael Schauer mentions a daughter Eva Rosine in his will.
The births and baptisms of the children were recorded at the St. Daniel's (Corner) Church.
In 1774, Mathias' father deeded the eastern portion of the old family homestead to him. (The western portion was deeded to his brother, Balthasar. See bottom map, a 1779 Platt.)
Mathias served in the Revolution as a private in 1776 and as an Ensign in 1777.
He married second Margaret Wengert, a widow, March 18, 1783, at Christ Lutheran Church. In later documents she is referred to as Margaret or Anna Margaret. Contributor Shary Mullins (#47540806) believes her maiden name to be Anna Margretha Shauer.
