Mary Alva Egger, rural Hornick, Iowa died on Wednesday, June 21, 1989 at her home following a long illness. Death came at the age of 91 years 4 months and 19 days.
She was born February 2, 1898, in Holly Springs, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Augusta (Steinhoff) Egger. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Church at German City.
Survivors include a sister, Lyda Egger of Hornick and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Henry, Charlie, Edward and Albert; and four sisters, Rosina, Anna, Freda, and Lydia.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 1989, at St. John’s Evangelical Church, Germany City, Iowa, with Rev. Walter Enstrom officiating. The organist was Katherine Cox.
Casket bearers were Chet Claus, Gary Sulsberger, Marvin Sulsberger, Bill Smith, Darrel Sulsberger, and Donald Sulsberger.
Interment was in the St. John’s Evangelical Church Cemetery at German City with arrangements by Willman Funeral Home, Rodney, Iowa.
