Steve Edward Zimbelmann of Lodi passed away on December 10, 2009, at the age of 65. Mr. Zimbelmann was born in Lodi on September 13, 1944, to Ephraim and Bertha Adeline (Preszler) Zimbelmann. He grew up in Lodi and graduated from Lodi High School in 1962. He married Cheryl Kathryn Brodehl on October 17, 1964, at Zion Reformed Church. He belonged to the National Guard and was an Auxiliary Police Officer for Lodi Police in the 1970’s. Steve retired from Lodi Unified School District as Transportation Supervisor in December of 2006, after 37 years. He and his wife Cheryl also owned Slots-Alot for over ten years. He enjoyed traveling, RV’ing and particularly, cruises. He loved people and was very outgoing. He enjoyed tinkering with engines and participated in Antique Chugger Engine events. He could fix anything and was always willing to help anybody in need. He loved his devoted Golden Retrievers Heidi and Katie. He will be so very missed by beloved family and friends. Steve is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cheryl Zimbelmann; two daughters, Deborah Sherman of Lodi, Tammy Cuenca of Lodi; one son, Steve Edward Zimbelmann, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Portland, OR; four granddaughters, Diane, Corina, Crystal and Jessie; one grandson, Drake; sister, Lois Poole of Lodi. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Robinette Renschler. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service to celebrate Steve’s life on Friday, December 18, at 1:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. There is no visitation, and committal is private.
