Henry Wuest or H.H. as he was known by and called all through his lifetime was born South Rohrbach, Russia on September 8, 1887. He came to the United States at age of six in 1893 with his parents. They first settled in Kansas later homesteaded in South Dakota where he grew up. On March 9, 1909, he married the daughter of homesteaders, Johanna Wuest, who was also born in South Rohrbach, Russia, coming to the United States as a child.
In November of 1913 H. H. moved his family to Montana, first settling in Brady. H.H. came by freight train accompanied by all of his worldly possessions; his team of horses, his horse-driven machinery, cattle and his true pride and joy, two trotters named Queen and Babe. Johanna and their two small daughters; Alma and Esther followed by passenger train. H.H. worked for T. Quamme setting up machinery the two years they lived in Brady.
IN 1915 H.H. took up a homestead 7 miles east of Agawan, where he and Johanna lived until he retired in 1953. Times were tough those early years; they milked cows, raised chickens and geese for spending money. Another daughter, Madeline was born in 1923. Their three girls all attended the Weist School, a 2 1/2 mile walk. H.H. served as a trustee on the school board for 30 years.
Things got better as the years went by; H.H. bought new, modern machinery and a Ford Model A. Queen and Babe were retired; the family's horse and buggy days were over. H.H. was active in the community affairs and projects; he also served as a director of the Fedral Land Bank in Great Falls for 20 years.
Their daughters married and in 1953 H.H. sold the farm to a nephew, Ernest Weist. Along with Johanna, he moved to Choteau. They were both active in the Choteau community; they joined the Methodist Church, the Masonic and Eastern Star Lodges and enjoyed visiting old friends. They traveled to South Dakota and Kansas to visit relatives and to their daughter Esther's home in California Johanna died in 1968.
