Raymopnd D. Fuehrer, 58, of Woodcliff in rural Fremont, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at his home.
Services were Saturday at the Salem Lutheran Church in Fremont with the Rev. Michael Thomas officiating. Burial was at Ridge Cemetery, with military honors by the Fremont Honor Guard of The American Legion Post 20 and Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 854.
Ludvigsen Mortuary of Fremont was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Fuehrer was born April 1, 1945, in Fullerton to Henry and Vernitia (Klein) Fuehrer. He graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1963.
He served in the U.S. Army beginning in 1963, and served in Vietnam in 1964-65.
On Sept. 6, 1967, he married Elaine Tubbs in Columbus. They lived in several communities in Nebraska and Iowa.
He had been employed by Western Union, owned several restaurants, started a furniture store in Iowa, worked in sales, did auctioneering, part of the time with Martindale Auctioneers, was an automobile salesman, at one time for
Steffy's in Fremont, and he and his wife also had owned the Lazy G Cafe in Fremont. He retired in 1999.
He was a member of the church, American Legion Post 20 and was a past commander of the Disabled American Veteran's Post 18, all of Fremont. He was a member of the Woodcliff Lions Club.
Survivors include his daughter, Katherine Fuehrer of Omaha; two sons, Daniel Fuehrer of Fremont and Michael (Monica) Fuehrer of Omaha; six grandchildren; one brother, Norman (Betty) Fuehrer of El Cajon, Calif.; and his fiancee, Lizanne Lefler of Fremont.
He was preceded in death by his wife in October 2000; his parents; and a brother.
