She was born March 29, 1918, at Kenmare, a daughter of Lynn and Celia (Sykes) Rose. She was reared in the Donnybrook area where she attended school, graduating from Donnybrook High School in 1936. As a young lady she worked for the Donnybrook High School where she was employed in the library. On December 23, 1939, at Minot, she married Chester Stroklund. The couple resided briefly at Tacoma, Washington; and then Munich, North Dakota for several years before moving south of Kenmare in 1950 where they engaged in farming. They retired in 1983 from farming but still continued to make their residence on the farm. A very caring and loving individual towards her family, she dedicated some of her poetry to all her children and grandchildren, that in reading it they may come to better know her. Marge and Chester were happily married fifty-four years.
She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church. She was also an active poet and free-lance writer. Her column, “Messages To Marge” appeared for several years in The Kenmare News. She also wrote several books which included “Poetry is Magic”, “Treasured Moments”, “In My Own Way”, “Love Enters Softly”, and “Family Poems”.
