    Hannah Zunt was born in Germany where she lived with her parents until she was about sixteen years of age at which time they came to America and settled in Chicago, Illinois.
    After a few years in Chicago she moved with her parents to Jewell County, Kansas, where she later was united in marriage with John Weigel.
    To this union five children were born, one son and four daughters. One daughter passed away at about three years of age.
    Mr and Mrs Weigel lived in Missouri for a time and in the western states but the most of their married life was spent in Nebraska, near Guide Rock, where Mr Weigel passed away July 4, 1926.
    Following the death of her husband Mrs Weigel moved to Haigler, Nebraska, where she lived six years when she came to Ericson, where she remained until she passed away in the home of her daughter, Mrs Tillie Hoskins, Sunday morning, July 20, 1941 at 7 o'clock, age 79 years, 4 months and 23 days.
    There remains to mourn her passing one son, Louie Weigel and 3 daughters, Lula Weigel and Mrs Tillie Hoskins of Ericson, Nebraska and Mrs Andy Norval of Roscoe, Missouri, 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and many friends and acquaintances. She also leaves one sister, Mrs John Karnatz of Burr Oak, Kansas and two brothers, Fred of Superior and Charles of Guide Rock. - should be Hannah Sund not ZUNT

    Funeral rites for Louis Edward Weigel, who died at the Maynard hospital in Red Cloud last Monday, were conducted on Thursday from the Amack & son Funeral Home in Red Cloud at 2:00 o'clock with the Rev Leslie A Moore officiating. Interment in Guide Rock cemetery.
    Casketbearers were Louis Seeba, Louis Kiehl, Roe Simpson, Oscar Sund, George Sund and Marvin Zeigler.
    Mr and Mrs Glen Mountford sang "Rock of Ages" and "In the Garden."
    Louis Edward Weigel was born near Burr Oak, Kansas, February 9, 1883 and passes away May 25, 1953 in Red Cloud at the age of 70.
    He spent most of his life in Nebraska. He was engaged in farming until his health failed.
    He was a friend to all who knew him.
    Mr Weigel was preceded i death by one daughter, Clara, dying in infancy.
    He is survived by his wife, Mrs Nellie Weigel and six children, Charles Weigel of Lincoln, Mrs Goldie Taylor of Minneapolis, Kansas, Mrs Bernice Alden of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Glenn Weigel of Esbon, Kansas, Mrs Pauline Theriot of Creole, Louisiana and Edward Weigel of Atkinson, Nebraska, also three sisters and seven grandchildren.
    He will be missed by his family, relatives and many friends.

    GRAND ISLAND - Elsie V Schamp, 78 of Ord died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at St Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
    Services will be at 2 pm Thursday at United Methodist Church in Burwell with the Rev Murry Johnston officiating. Burial will be at Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell.
    Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.
    Memorial are suggested to the family.
    She was born May 4, 1922, in Idalia, Colo., to Henry and Matilda (Weigel) Hoskins.
    On Nov 4, 1937, she married Joseph Schamp in Bartlett. They farmed in the Spalding, Burwell and Ord areas, and she was a longtime employee of Valley County Hospital in Ord and of Mount Carmel Home in Kearney. Her husband died on Sep 20, 1993.
    Survivors include her sons, David of Dover, Del., and Benny of Ord; daughters, Irene of Elyria and Suzzane of Fremont; sister, Sara Riebschlager of Lexington; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
    In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two grandsons.

    Charles C Weigle, 77, of Grand Island died Saturday in his home.
    Services will be Tuesday a 2 pm in Simonson-Williams Funeral Home Chapel at Red Cloud with the Rev Earl Reed officiating. Burial will be in the Red Cloud Cemetery.
    Mr Weigle was born February 10, 1907, at Guide Rock. He graduated from Guide Rock High School in 1926 and worked for the Webster County Road Department.
    He married Mildred Dolly Barnes June 6, 1934. He was employed by the Burlington Northern Railroad and lived at Republican City, Concordia, Kansas, Wymore and Lincoln.
    He retired in 1973. Mrs Weigle died February 9, 1981. He married Essie Barnes Aubushon, Dec 12, 1981, and they have lived in Grand Island.
    Surviving are his wife, Essie of Grand Island; one stepson, Charles E Aubushon of Grand Island; three sisters, Golda Taylor of Minneapolis, Kansas, Bernice Alden of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Maxine Theriot of Lake Charles, Louisiana; two brothers, Edward of Amelia and Glenn of O'Neill; and three step-grandchildren.

    Golda A Weigel was born Jan 1, 1910 in Red Cloud, Nebraska to Louie and Nellie (Schnitker) Weigel. She passed away June 8, 2007 at the Ottawa County Health Center in Minneapolis at the age of 97 years.
    Goldie as she was known, was united in marriage with Ralph "Roundy" Taylor in Red Cloud before moving to Phillipsburg. They lived in Phillipsburg until 1936 when they moved to Minneapolis. She worked as a sales clerk at Williamson Furniture and the Smart Shop. Goldie loved her iris garden and loved to share her flowers with others. She was a member of First Presbyterian church, Presbyterian Women and VFW Auxiliary.
    Survivors include her son, George Taylor and wife Shirley of Minneapolis; a sister Maxine Theriot of Lake Charles, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Kimberly Gens, Mitchell Taylor and Shawn Taylor; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 13, 1973.
    The funeral was June 11 at Shields Funeral Home in Minneapolis with Rev Todd Burrow officiating. Musicians were Melba Bruce and Suzie Foerschler. Casket bearers were Shawn Taylor, Mitch Taylor, Tim Dolloff, Cleo Simoneau, Rob Ward and Trace Kreigh. Interment was in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis.
    Memorial are to the first Presbyterian Church.

    Bernice B. Alden, 90, of Cheyenne passed away on July 12.
    She was born Sept. 11, 1914, in Guide Rock, Neb.
    She married John L. Alden in 1933 in Ericson, Neb.
    Bernice was a longtime resident of Cheyenne and a member of Faith United Methodist Church. She had a deep belief in God and participated in many church faith programs for many years. She was a member of the Eagles and a volunteer cookie baker for the Veterans Hospital.
    She is the beloved mother of Marlene A. and Pasquale Zumo and John L. and Kathy Alden, all of Cheyenne. She was grandmother to five wonderful grandchildren, Michael and Lori Zumo, Teresa and Ranjit Nath, Kym and Brad Freeman, all of Cheyenne, Christine and Bob Candler of Laramie and Traci and Jim Bush, all of Spangdahlem, Germany Air Force Base. Bernice was great-grandmother to eight beautiful great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, Andrew, Jennifer and Divya Nath and Sara Zumo, all of Cheyenne, Ryan and Jason Candler of Laramie, Victoria, Mickale and Patrick Bush, all of Spangdahlem. She is survived by two sisters, Goldie Taylor of Minneapolis, Kan., and Pauline Theriot of Lake Charles, La.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, John Alden in 1978; her eldest son, Billy Alden in 1951; her parents, Louie and Nellie Weigel; and three brothers, Charles Weigel, Glen Weigel and Edward Weigel.
    Services will be 2 p.m. today at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes with the Rev. Delbert Hansen officiating.
    Family will receive friends at Faith United Methodist Church immediately following the services.
    Interment will be in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
    Pallbearers will be Ranjit Nath, Bob Candler, Andrew Nath, Brad Freeman, Ron Miley and Mike Zumo.

    FREMONT -- Suzzanne Schamp, 65, of Fremont, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, at her daughter's home in Fre-mont.
    Ms. Schamp's wishes were to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Sherry J. Sklenar will officiate.
    Military honors will be conducted by the Ord VFW Post 7029 and American Legion Post 38.
    Mrs. Schamp was born March 28, 1944 at her grandmother's house in Ericson to Joe and Elsie (Hoskins) Schamp.
    Survivors of her immediate family include a daughter, Racheale Mueller of Fremont; a son, Brian Tillman of Fremont; a sister, Irene Schamp of Elyria; her twin brother and a sister-in-law, Benny and Betty Schamp of Elyria, and a brother, David Schamp of Dover, Del.
    Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jesse, Cortney, Faith, and Sunset.
    Suzzanne attended country school north of Burwell and Ord High School. After high school she attended and graduated from Communication School in Omaha. She then entered the U.S. Air Force.
    After the Air Force, Suzzanne worked as an assistant to the district manager of Safeway Stores, Inc. in the Grand Island area. After Safeway closed in that area she went to work for C.R. Fedrick until the year 2002. She then settled in the Fremont area to be closer to her family. Suzzanne joined the firm of Interiors Joan & Associates, where she worked until the time of her death.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Bobby Joe Conner
