Birthyear is inference from 'age 76 in 1993' In 1994 Paulina and her daughter, Maria, said the name was spelled Lender (in Russian). I had earlier had it as Linder, but with their correction I'll now spell it as they prefer. (Their pronunciation sounds like 'Linder' in German, with the short 'i')
In August, 1994 a letter from Margaret Decker, recently arrived in Dueren, Germany, reported that Paulina had died in May. A phone call to her grandaughter, Valya Schabert in Germany (spoke to Valya's husband, Waldemar) confirmed it; she died while working in her garden harvesting onions in Zaretchna, Kazakhstan--just across the Tobol River from Kustanai where she found us in 1993. (For details of this astounding event see article by William M. Wiest, "Impressions from our trip to Russia (Saratov villages) and Kazakhstan (Kustanai area) in 1993," in Journal of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia, Winter, 1994, (Vol. 17, No. 4).
