  Marcie Graham: Lydia Wiest Allmendinger Family History. Lydia Wiest was born to Edward & Anna Marie Riechert Wiest Feb 8th, 1897 at Johannestal, So. Russia. The family came to America in the early 1900's. They came to relatives in Linton, ND in about 1906. They moved to Bismarck, ND in 1907 according to my Mom. She said she was 10yrs old. She went to school there for awhile, before they later moved to Golden Valley, ND.She married Rudolf Allmendinger on Feb 5th 1915 at Golden Valley. They lived & farmed for a number of years in the Golden Valley & Dodge, ND area & also lived for a few years on some rented land on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation. In 1932 they moved to a farm about 2 miles East of Zap, ND. They farmed there & Rudolf also worked in in the coal mine there. In 1947 they moved to Bismarck, ND where several of there children had moved. They bought a house there & rented out 2 apartments to make their payments. Rudolf also worked as a school janitor at Richolt School their. He later had his own lawn business & his grandson Gary Allmendinger helped him when he was a teen-ager. Rudolf & Lydia sold their house & in 1972 the moved into the Baptist Home partments. Lydia was a housewife & also cleaned houses for people in Bismarck. Lydia had a total of eleven children. The oldest daughter, Edna was born Aug 7th 1915 in Golden Valley, ND. She married George Morrical Nov 21st 1937 in Zap, ND at the Baptist Chuch. They lived in the Zap area where George worked in the mine. They later moved to Bismarck, where George worked for the Sanitation company. Edna worked for Will's Seed company, The school's & also did housework for people to help make a living. George died of a stroke following surgery at Bismarck Hospital in 1972. He was 73yrs old. They had no children. Edna lived in Bismarck in senior housing until a few weeks before her death, when she had to go into the nursing unit of the Baptist Home. She died Aug 10th,2001 at St Mary's hospital in Bismarck, ND, where they had lived since the 1940's. Rose Allmendinger was born June 4th, 1916 in Golden Valley ,ND. She married William Glass Nov 21, 1937 in Zap, ND at the Baptist church. They had 4 children & lived north of Golden Valley where Bill farmed with his father & mother & his siblings. They had four children born to them. Arlene, Shirley, Evelyn, & Jerome Glass. They lived on the farm until the 1950's when they moved to Bismarck, ND to join the rest of the family. William worked for Sear's & Roebuck until his retirement, & Rose did housework for people to help feed & educate the family.
