HISTORY
According to the Fredonia history book, Philipp came to the US when he was 19 years old and settled in Scotland, SD. After four years he moved to ND and homesteaded 12 miles south of Fredonia. He had eleven children by his first wife, of whom seven were then living.

Philip Woeh, 87, of Fredonia died of cancer on Monday, April 23, 1956..Mr. Woehl was born February 2, 1869, in Rohrbach, South Russia. He came to the United States and settled at Scotland, SD, at the age of 18. On September 24, 1891, he was married to Miss Christina Rott who died January 21, 1930. In 1892 he moved his family to a farm about 12 miles south of Fredonia. He had also worked as an auctioneer and served on the school board. He was a member of Berlin Baptist church. On May 19, 1930, he was married to Mrs. Rosina Betsch. They moved to Street where Mrs. Woehl died January 19, 1956. Following her death Mr. Woehl stayed a few days with his children and was then taken to the hospital where he died. Survivors include the following children: Mrs. Pete Enderst (Elizabeth) of Medicine Hat, Canada; Gust of Fredonia; Mrs. Jacob Schafer (Bertha) of Carrington, ND; Mrs. Adam Rott (Eva) of McLaughlin, SD; Mrs. Otto Netz (Dena) of Wenatchee, WA; (blank), Henry and Albert, all of Fredonia, eight stepchildren, 30 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four children: Frederick, Henry, Katie and John.
