Pam Walz:
Leroy Louis Hieb, 71, of Lodi, died April 22 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born May 12, 1925, in Lodi.
Mr. Hieb was a lifelong resident of the area. He was self-employed as a farmer for the past 66 years and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Woodbridge Wine and Grape Commission and the San Joaquin Farm Bureau. Mr. Hieb is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Pauline Hieb. Mr. Hieb is survived by his wife, Thelma Hieb of Lodi; three daughters, Kathryn Hieb, Louise Woehl, Barbara Uhlich, all of Lodi; two brothers, Donald and Melvin Hieb, both of Lodi; and five grandchildren. A chapel service is 11 a.m. Friday at Lodi Funeral Home with Pastor
Norman Mowery of First United Methodist Church officiating. Committal is at Cherokee Memoral Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of San Joaquin, 2609 E. Hammer Lane, Stockton 95210 or to the First United Methodist Church, 200 W. Oak St., Lodi, 95240.
