Otto H. Hieb, 90, of Walnut Creek and formerly of Lodi, died Sept. 25. He was born in Lodi on Dec. 18, 1904. He graduated from Stanford University in 1928, with an M. A. in educational administration. Mr. Hieb also took postgraduate courses in Germany at the University of Heidelberg, and in France at the University of Grenoble.
He was married to Lydia Haas at First Baptist Church in Lodi on June 9, 1929. Mr. Hieb moved to Oakland in 1930 and then to Walnut Creek in 1985. He owned Otto Hieb Office Equipment Company in Oakland from 1930 to 1962. From 1962 to 1971 he was a travel consultant for Central Travel Agency in Oakland. He moved to Walnut Creek in 1985. He served on the Oakland Board of Education, the Council of Social Agencies of the East Bay, and the Almeda-Contra Costa Counties Community Foundation, now the East Bay Community Foundation.
Mr. Hieb also served as President of the East Bay Stanford Club and the Stanford Alumni Association. He is survived by wife Lydia Hieb of Walnut Creek; brother Harold Hieb of Lodi; sister Bertha Handel Curry of Lodi; and son Bill Hieb of Walnut Creek. Friends are invited to a public memorial service 4 p.m. on Oct. 26 at First Unitarian Church of Oakland. 14th and Castro Streets.
