  Pam Walz: Lodi News Sentinel Monday Feb. 7, 1938 Mrs. Elizabeth Hieb, former Lodi resident, passed away at 3 oçlock yesterday afternoon in a Bay hospital. The family resided there for many years on So. Pleasant Ave. until 1920 when they moved to Oakland. Recently they have been making their home in Albany. She was the daughter of the late Jacob & Maria Handel, well known pioneer family who made their home east of Lodi for many years. She was the wife of Jacob G. Hieb; mother of Mrs. Annette Hoffman, Fred Hieb and Mrs. Lillian Sherwood, all of Albany. She was the sister of the late John F. Handel, Menno, SD; Carolina Herrboldt of Shafter, CA; Christ and W.H. Handel, Shafter; Emanuel F. and Jacob E. Handel, Lodi and Annie Shenkenberger, Lodi. She also has many nieces and nephews and a host of friends in this vicinity who will mourn her death. Funeral services will be held in Albany Tuesday afternoon at 2 oçlock conducted by the pastor of Grace Lutheran Church.
