Sutton-Sylvia Katherina Rauscher of Sutton died Monday, November 4, 2002 at Sutton at the age of 99
Funeral services were held November 7, 2002 at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Sutton with the Reverend George Symd officiating. Intermet was in the Sutton Cemetery.
Music was provided by Melvin Reichert, soloist and Debbie Syms organist.
Pallbearers were Jeffrey Prazak, Jerome Prazak, Josh Olson, Don Kauk, Allen Huber and Randall Griess.
Sylvia was born Novemeber 5, 1902 near Sutton in Fillmore County to Alexander amd Margaret (Peter) May. She attended country school, District 31, and Grafton High School, which she graduated from in 1919. She attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska. She began teaching right after high school, teaching elementary grades for 30 years in rural schools in Fillmore and clay counties and also in Lincoln.
On January 12, 1926 she was united in marriage to John Rauscher in her parents' home in Sutton. They farmed around the Sutton area until they moved to Lincoln from 1948 to 1952 and then returned to Sutton. Her husband died December 10,1978.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church, Ladies Aide, Women's Club, Sutton Community Home Auxiliary and a charter member of the Bixby Extension Club. She had been a resident of the Sutton Community Home for about two months.
Survivors include her daughter Corinne Prazak of Glendale, AZ; Sister Verna Rauscher of Sutton; daughter-in-law Shirley Rauscher of Lincoln; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Kohler Mortuary of Sutton was in charge of arrangements.
