Albert E. "A.E." Zimbelman, age 91, of Ionia, went to be with his heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Laurels of Carson City. He was born April 9, 1921 in St. Francis, Kansas, the son of Peter & Margaret (Crossiant) Zimbelman.
On September 20, 1945, Albert was married to the former Lucile R. Holzwarth in St. Francis, Kansas. She survives in addition to their children, Sheila & Steve McFarland of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Rick & Kate Zimbelman of Stanton, plus four grandchildren, Sarah & Andy Middlestead, Jessica Zimbelman, Zach & Holly Zimbelman and Matthew & Bethany McFarland, two great grandchildren, Elijah and Abigail, one sister, Ruth Zimbelman of Boulder, Colorado and several nieces and nephews.
Formerly of Battle Creek, Mr. Zimbelman has been a resident of Ionia since 2008. He was a retired meat inspector from the United States Department of Agriculture and was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed greatly by all of his family as well as everyone who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the Simpson Family Funeral Home, Sheridan, with Alberta's son-in-law, Steve McFarland officiating. Interment will be at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek.
Visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home on Friday, one hour prior to the service.
For those desiring to do so, the family has suggested memorial considerations can be made to the Chapel Hill Methodist Church in Battle Creek where the Zimbelman's were members for many years
