Notizen - Hans Leibbrandt:
Information from book "Jakob Hepper and His Descendants 1836-1990" by Betty Hepper Kluckmann Rudolph was born in Alkaly, Crimea, South Russia. He was drafted into the Russian Army but didn't serve his full 7 years because of the cruel conditions. Rudolph was taken prisoner of war in Turkey and was held for about two years. From Turkey he was sent to Germany because of his German nationality. He remained in Germany for about five years, as a trustee on a farm, doing farm labor for a German farmer. He left Antwerp, Belgium on Dec 19 1922 and arrived in US on Jan 1 1923 on the vessel SS Finland at the Port of NY, NY. He traveled to Selfridge, ND where his brothers lived and worked as a farm hand for several years. He became a citizen on Oct 27 1941. After his marriage to Rose Mattis in 1925, Rudolph and Rose moved onto the farm which Rudolph had SW of Selfridge. They remained here until 1945.
