! Information taken from "Jakob Hepper and His Descendants 1836-1990" pg 99 Jakob, according to his younger sister, was a carpenter. In the 1930's he was in the Caucasas and worked at a tractor station as a machinist. He had a wife, and a son, who in 1936, was seven years old. Johann mentioned in a letter, that he liked to read his newspaper. Johann and his family lived in the Caucasas, in a village called Tschamilik, which was thirty-five kilometers from Armavir. Emelia Hepper also remembered that her husband, Theodor, talked often of his brother, Johann, who was in Russia, and seemed to miss him a great deal. Johann wouldn't emigrate, unless his father would go too and the father wanted to wait until World War I was over to leave Russia. By then, the Bolsheviks had taken over and it was too late to leave.
