Elmer ACKERMAN, 86, died peacefully on July 4, 2012, in Garland, Texas. Elmer was born on Sept. 13th, 1925, in Logan County, North Dakota to Edward and Martha (Sayler) ACKERMAN. He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, 1 daughter and 9 grandchildren.
Elmer was a dedicated family man whose love and humor will be greatly missed. Elmer's grandchildren will remember him most teaching them to water ski, snow ski, and the many card and domino games played out on the back patio.
He was a member of the Buckingham United Methodist Church for over 40 years. He was also an active member of the Hella Shrine, where he enjoyed being a greeter and riding his scooter in local parades with his dog (Carmela); who always stole the show at least according to Elmer.
A memorial service was held at Buckingham United Methodist Church on Sunday July 8th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Buckingham United Methodist Church or the Shrine Hospitals.
