Wilfred Leslie "Willie" Brod passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Village Health Care Center.
He was born Oct 29, 1915, in Bernardo Prairie, Colorado County, Texas, to Adam and Emma Brod. He was raised in North Dakota, moving to Missoula in 1936.
In 1943, he married Katherine Zimbelman at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Missoula. They were married for 65 years.
Wilfred worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps, National Youth Administration, the Kaiser shipyards and Northern Pacific Railroad prior to working at the White Pine Sash in Missoula. He retired after 33 years at White Pine Sash. He was a lifetime member of the carpenters union.
Willie loved hunting, fishing, dancing and bowling. He could play a great tune on the harmonica. He enjoyed gardening and was famous for his wonderful vegetables. He was happy to share his harvest with family and friends. He prepared many family dinners, much to their delight! Willie was a very caring person and had a great sense of humor.
His parents, brother and three sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving wife, Katherine of Missoula; son, Les (Marian) Brod of Eugene, Ore.; daughter, Linda (Alan) Bare of Spokane; his special granddaughters, Sarah (Rob) Hawkins and Julia Brod of Portland, Ore.; sister, Bernice Bennett of El Cajon, Calif.; and many caring nieces and nephews.
