Burial: Colfax Cety, Colfax, Whitman, WA, USA
Note:
Carrie*s brothers and sisters are Henry*, John* and Tony Koenig*; also Emma Koenig Kroll*; all buried in Colfax Cemetery, Lot No. 84, IOOF Section
Carrie*s mother died in January 1938; her husband died November 5, 1938, and her father died November 16, 1938. She had no money and no where to go. The farm was probably mortgaged. The horses and equipment were taken by Christian*s doctor to pay his medical bills. John Koenig , I believe, had Carrie and her five boys committed to Eastern State Hospital (Medical Lake Division) on January 31, 1939, as imbeciles and feebleminded. They were interred and after two or three days her children were taken away from her and she was not allowed to see them but once a year on Mother's Day and this was under supervision. A gross miscarriage of justice. Leonard died that same year, November 4, 1939. He was really mentally handicapped. However, Lloyd and Leo were not and were later released and lived full and productive lives. Lucien and Wesley were reared as if they were mentally handicapped. Had they had a normal life, I believe they may also have been ok.
