Leona attened school in Fullerton. On Oct 11, 1942, she was united in marriage to Clarence Johnson. The couple made their home in the Oakes area until moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1953, where they raised their children. Clarence died on Sep 15, 1965. Leona relocated to Peachtree City, Ga. in 1989, where she continued to make her home near her family until the time of her death. Leona was a wonderful homemaker. she enjoyed many different activities, including gardening, camping, traveling, dancing and embroidering, which later became one of her favorite pastimes. Leona also loved taking care of and spending time with her grandchildren. Leona passed away on Aug 30, 2010 in Peachtree City,GA. She is survived by sons, Robert(Joanne) Johnson and Larry(Kim)Johnson; grandchildren, Jody(Lee)Hamlett,Jennifer(James)Chambers, Katie(Scott)Kostuck, Jamie(Jason)Moore, Cory Johnson, and Matthew Johnson; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Chayse, Alex, Maddie, and Julian; sister, Gusty Olson; sister-in-law Jane Zimbelman, Phyllis Zimbelman, and Dolly(Virgil) Sund; and many nieces and nephews. She was proceded in death by her husband Clarence Johnson; infant daughter, Nancy Lynn; brothers, Mike and Shorty Zimbelman; sister Tillie Kennedy.Services for Leona E. "Lee" Johnson of Peachtree City, GA will be held on Sep 11, 2010 at 2:00pm at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes,ND with Rev. Scott Block officiating. Burial will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Oakes
