Martha J. Pittman, 94, of 9705 Shimpstown Road, Mercersburg, PA died Aug. 22, 2008.
She is survived by children, Lavonne, James, Paul, Romona, Shirley, Doroetha, Nancy, Garry, and Wanda.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 27 in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg.
Viewing 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Martha J. Pittman, 94, of 9705 Shimpstown Road, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at her home. Born Sept. 28, 1913, in Mercersburg, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Mullenix Thomas. Her husband, Paul W. Pittman, died Jan. 2, 1957. She was a former employee of Knouse Food of Chambersburg, Pa. She was a former member of Blue Spring Mission of Mercersburg and attended Greencastle Church of God. She is survived by six daughters, Lavonne Rozell of Greencastle, Pa., Romona Miller of Staunton, Va., Shirley Horst of Shippensburg, Pa., Doroetha Yohn of York Springs, Pa., Nancy Sites of Mercersburg and Wanda Lynch of Clear Spring; three sons, James Pittman of Shippensburg, Paul Pittman of Oakville, Pa., and Garry Pittman of Staunton; 31 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Harold Pittman; five sisters; and five brothers. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg. The Revs. Gregory L. Miller and Floyd E. Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Mercersburg. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
