The last surviving member of the third generation of the pioneer Parker family, whose ranch once covered most of Tracy north of 11th Street, has died. Georgia Ruth Parker Yerzy Motl, 89, died Friday at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. A native of Tracy, she was the granddaughter of Lewis Parker, who founded the 350-acre Parker Ranch north from 11th Street to Grant Line Road in 1902 with
his brother, Adam Parker. Following their deaths, the ranch was sold in 1923 to a Stockton real estate firm that began dividing the land for residential development. Parker Avenue and the area north of Eaton Avenue once known as Parker Acres bear the family’s name.
Mrs. Motl was the daughter of George L. Parker and Vada Cole Parker. George L. Parker was a champion sprinter who set the world record of 21.1 seconds for the 220-yard dash in Fresno in 1914 while running for the San Francisco Olympic Club. The outbreak of World War I later that same year, however, forced the cancellation of the 1916 Olympic games and doomed his chances for Olympic gold.
After graduating from Tracy High School in 1934, Mrs. Motl attended Modesto Junior College before moving to San Francisco in the late 1930s. She married George Albrecht Yerzy, who died in 1951. She married Albert A. Motl of San Francisco in 1953. He died in 2002. Mrs. Motl enjoyed traveling to Europe, Canada, the South Pacific and throughout the United States. She was a skilled artist who loved to create still-life and landscape paintings. She attended many concerts and art exhibits in the Bay Area.
A son, David Yerzy, said his mother is remembered as a remarkable and stoic woman with a beautiful smile who showed great kindness to others. Survivors include three sons, Michael G. Yerzy of Prunedale, David Yerzy, and his wife, Marie, of Vallejo, and Robert Motl, and his wife, Joy, of Antioch; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A brother, Lewill Parker, preceded her in death in 1985. At Mrs. Motl’s request, no services will be held. Her ashes will be interred at sea.
