A 1915 San Jose newspaper article from Chetâ„¢s early life:
Hurled Eight Feet High by Auto and is Unhurt. Chester Perry Soars Right Over Horse's Head
œAfter being hurled eight feet high clear over his horse™s head when hisb uggy was struck by an automobile driven by James Montgomery of Lucretia Avenue, Chester M. Perry, of 398 South Seventh Street picked himself up from the cement pavement at Second and Santa Clara Streets this morning at 10 o™clock and said:
ËœThis rolling around on the street isnâ„¢t what itâ„¢s cracked up to be. Get me a clothes brush, please.â„¢
œOne man who saw Perry catapaultied through the air said that ˜he looked like an aeroplane.™
œWhen Perry fell to the hard pavement there was a general cry: ˜He™s killed.™
Å“But Perry had landed on his hands and feet Ëœlike a cat,â„¢ as one witness saidÅ’Â
