In 1852, Hannah came to America by sail boat, a six week ocean voyage, with her brother, John, another brother, her mother, and her sister. They went to Fair Haven, Vermont, and from there to New York.
In the 1860 census, living two doors down from John Williams is Hannah Roberts, 25, who would be the same age as Johnâ„¢s sister, Hannah. Hannahâ„¢s youngest children were born in Vermont, which is where they first settled. She appears in the 1870 census in Castleton, Rutland, VT with her husband and five children; then, in 1880 in New York, where her husband has left the slate industry to farm. This should be checked to see if she is the sister of John.
