Raymond Daniel Keeler Sr., 79, of 837 Kieffer St., Fountain Hill, died Wednesday in St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Elizabeth F. (Hendricks) Keeler for the past 13-1/2 years and the late Ruth N. (Hendricks) Keeler.
He was a slip maker at Bethlehem Steel Corp. before retiring in 1978 after 35 years' service.
Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Walter W. and Catherine (Swartz) Keeler.
A unit commissioner, he was honored in 1989 by the South Mountain District of Minsi Trails Council, Boy Scout of America, for 45 years of service. He began his career in scouting in the 1940s as a committee member for a Boy Scout troop in Hellertown. In 1947, he reorganized the Cub Scout pack in Fountain Hill and became Cub master. In the early 1950s, he became borough scoutmaster.
He was a member and a consistory elder of First United Church of Christ, Bethlehem.
Survivors: Wife; daughters, Ruth Ann, wife of Walter Decker of Bethlehem, Louise K., wife of Clement Dreher of Allentown, and Robin D., wife of John Long of Birdsboro, Berks County; sons, Raymond D. Jr. of Palisades, Minn., Richard D. of Bensalem, Bucks County, Mark J. of Bath, and Ronald D. and Paul G., both of Bethlehem; brothers, Preston E. of Allentown and Warren W. of Prince George, Va.; sister, Ima J., wife of Joseph Hendricks of Bethlehem; 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
