Casper Sherrick, 1732 Immigrant, left Rotterdam, May 1731, with wife and small child, ship "Love & Unity", for Philadelphia, PA, with 156 people of which 100 died on the voyage, the ship finally landed at Martha's Vineyard, MA one week before Christmas 1731. The provisions depleted, a trial was held to determine the fault.
The court awarded $L200 for relief, and they boarded ship "Norris" for PA, arriving 15 May 1732, with only 34 survivors. Casper went to Hempfield twp., Lancaster Co., Chesnut Hill. near his brother Joseph who came in 1727. Dec 1732, Casper married 2nd, Magdalena Foulck, sister of Peter Foulk. 1738 moved to Bethel Twp. Lebanon Co., PA and farmed 275 acres at Sherksville crossroads. 10 children. He died by 1770. Magdalena then remarried to Michael Gingrich; Married: 1) Dec 1732, Lancaster, PA, Casper Sherk/Sherrick; he died bef 1770; Married: 2) abt 1770, Lebanon, PA, Michael Gingrich; Death also: 1805, Lancaster, PA; 1796, Wolfs Union Cem., Bethel Twp., Lebanon, PA; Familysearch Family Tree, 2013;
Find A Grave, Wolfs Union Meeting House Cemetery, Lebanon, Lebanon, PA, Magdalena Barbara Foulck Shirk (1710 Germantown - 1796 Shirksville,Lebanon,PA), married Mennonite farmer, Casper Sherk, Dec 1732, Philadelphia Co., PA, They lived next to his brother for 6 to 7 years, Magdalena was Caspers 2nd spouse. His 1st wife and child died during their voyage to America. In 1739 they moved to Swatara Creek, Bethel twp., Lancaster, PA, bought 275 acres of land, became the homestead and Sherksville was established thereon.
