Funeral services for John L. Strandberg were held Friday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. from the Calvary Lutheran church with Rev. Nels E. Bengston officiating. Pallbearers were Howard Johnson, Raymond Anderson, Roy Berglund, Sidney Flooding, Gust Erickson and Oscar Wahlstrom. Interment was made in the Geneva cemetery.
John Linus Strandberg was born in Smoland, Sweden, Nov. 25, 1866, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Strandberg. John was baptized and confirmed and grew to manhood in Sweden. At the age of 22 years he immigrated to the United States. Mr. Strandberg had made his residence in Alexandria township for the past 65 years. On June 11, 1902, he was united in marriage to Emma Louise Erickson by Rev. A. Melin. Seven children were born to this union. One son, Dr. Harold Strandberg, passed away at Glenwood Oct. 14, 1951.
Mr. Strandberg was a member of the Calvary Lutheran church of Alexandria, and had served on the board of deacons for several terms. After a lingering illness, he passed away at St. Lukes hospital Sunday afternoon, Oct. 11, at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 14 days. He is survived by his wife and six children, Rose of Hopkins, Vera (Mrs. Carl Myrin) of Vista, Calif., Earl of Minneapolis, Alvin, living on the home place, Winfred of Nelson and Doris (Mrs. Erving Kee) of Alexandria. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
