It's origin comes from John Pleasants, I (1588-1640); then John, II (1618-death unk), then John, III (1644-1698) aka John, I in America and aka John the Immigrant. This has confused many. This is an attempt to clear up that confusion. John Pleasants, II (aka IV, from his line in England) married Dorothy Carey, dau. of Thomas and Ann (Milner) Carey. They are the parents of (there may be more): John Pleasants, III (1697-1771)(aka V, from his line in England) Alice (Pleasants) Proffitt (1698-1771) John Pleasants, II's Parents are: John Pleasants, I (1644/45-1698)(aka the Immigrant, aka John, III from his line in England) and Jane (Larcome) Pleasants, widow of Capt.
