The funeral for Viola R. Boschee, Wishek, ND will be Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the United Church of Christ Church, Wishek, ND. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek, ND. Burial will be at the Wishek City Cemetery, Wishek, ND.
Viola Blessing was born January 12, 1922 in rural McIntosh county near Venturia, ND to Henry and Amanda (Wetzel) Blessing. When she was a child her family moved to a farm 5 miles south of Wishek. She was the oldest of 3 children and her father's right hand on the farm. Viola attended country grade school and Wishek High school until her junior year, when her father broke his leg. Viola then quit school to help on the farm.
Viola married Rubin V. Boschee on July 11, 1943 at the Wishek EUB Church Parsonage. They made their home on the Boschee Family Homestead 17 miles southwest of Wishek where they farmed and raised cattle.
Viola and Rubin retired in 1985 to Wishek, to a house their son-in-law, Cliff Ketterling built. Rubin passed away in 2003. Viola moved to the Wishek Assisted Living Apartments in January of 2011 and later to the Wishek Living Center, where she resided until her death.
Viola was a member of the United Methodist Church. Viola was a stay-at-home farm wife, working in the fields with Rubin. She enjoyed gardening, making patchwork lap blankets and cooking for her family.
Viola died Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Wishek Living Center, Wishek, ND. She was 91 old.
Viola is survived by one daughter, Debbie Boschee, Bismarck, ND; one daughter-in-law, Gwen Boschee, Wishek, ND; two granddaughters, Terry (Lance) Van Berkom, Burlington, ND and Tracy Boschee, Las Vegas, NV; three great-grandchildren, LeAnne, Ben and Jakob VanBerkom, Burlington, ND; one sister, Florence Zahara, Hazen, ND; one brother, Vernon (Mary) Blessing, Park Ridge, IL and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Rubin, one son, Curtis, one daughter, Sarah Chereda; one son-in-law, Cliff Ketterling; four brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law.
