He came to this county with his parents while a small boy. At the age of 16 he was confirmed in the Lutheran church in Sutton, Nebr., and was faithful to that until 1920 when he joined the Christian church in Blanchard.
He became a member of the Masonic lodge June 6, 1935. He was an employee of the Wabash Railroad for 43 years, 33 years of that being spent in Blanchard, retiring May 9, 1945, because of ill health.
He was united in marriage January 2, 1942, to Ruth Marie Whitney, and to this union was born a daughter, Barbara Rose.
He leaves to mourn him, his wife and six children, Barbara Rose, Sharon and Eugene of the home. By a former marriage, Roy in the service overseas; Wyvonne Viegelmann, San Diego, Calif; Jessie Simmon, Lansing, Mich. Three grandchildren, three sisters, Barbara Green of Los Angeles, Calif; Rose Haberle of Kansas City, Mo; Kate Conroe of Denver, Colo; and two brothers, John of St Joseph, Mo, and William of Maryville, survive.
