Timothy "Tim" Dollinger, 46 of Oceanside, CA died Tuesday, August 10, 2010. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish, SD.
Inurnment with full military honors will take place at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 18, 2010 Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD.
Tim was born August 28, 1963 in Eureka, SD to Edwin and Francine (Michaelsohn) Dollinger. He was raised in rural Ashley, ND and attended school in Ashley and Zeeland.
Tim enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and spent over 22 years serving his country, participating in Desert Storm, Desert Shield, War on Terrorism and Somalia.
He married Susan Hacek on November 15, 1986 to this union three children were born; Samantha "Sam", Taylor "Abbey" and Jacob "Jake".
Following his military career, Tim attended college and earned a bachelor's degree in engineering. At the time of his passing he was employed at MACTEC Engineering and Consulting Inc. in San Diego, CA as an engineer.
He is survived by his children; Sam Dollinger of San Diego, CA, Abbey Dollinger of Appleton, WI and Jake Dollinger of Appleton, WI, his parents, Edwin Dollinger of Arizona and Francine Rutschke his siblings; Paulette Armstrong of Plano, TX, Lance (Vonnie) Dollinger of Mobridge, SD, Wanda Bjerke of Valley City, ND, Mike (Dolores) Dollinger of Belle Fourche, SD and Greg (Deb Subart) Dollinger of Pingree, ND and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. "According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Timothy Dollinger, 46, struck the rear tire of another biker who had slowed down to offer assistant to a motorcyclist on Highway 385.
The collision threw Dollinger off his motorcycle and sent him skidding along the highway.
Dollinger then was struck by Thomas Williams, 44, of Irvington, N.J., who was unable to avoid him. Dollinger, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered fatal injuries."
