Stanley "Stan" A. Bader, 78, Mandan, died April 6, 2012, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, surrounded by his loving family. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Shane Campbell officiating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Stan was born April 10, 1933, in Elgin, to Albert Bader and Irene Bauer. He was raised and educated in Heil, Carson and Elgin, N.D., and Sidney and Glendive, Mont. Many of his special childhood memories were of living on farms throughout these areas. He married Mary Ann Friesz July 3, 1952, in Mott.
Family was an important part of Stan's life. His children often referred to him as "Padre" — he was kind, gentle and had a great sense of humor — an incredible husband and father — leaving us with so many wonderful memories...he will be greatly missed!
His hard work and integrity were evident in the many places he worked throughout his life: Mott Equity Exchange; Farmers Union Lumber; Newby Builders Supply; Superior Builders; Montana Dakota Utilities; St. Alexius Medical Center; and most recently, the Bismarck Funeral Home.
He loved to socialize and enjoyed his morning coffee with friends. He found contentment sitting on his deck, drinking coffee, listening to the birds and watching the squirrels. Stan enjoyed listening to "old school" country music, watching the Minnesota Twins and old westerns, especially John Wayne movies, auction sales, collecting memorabilia, restoring antique Maytag motors, carpentry/wood work, playing bingo and pool.
Christian Faith and Community service were important parts of Stan's life. He was a member of the Mott Lions, Mott Booster Club, Mott Knights of Columbus, Mott Fire Department, Mandan Eagles, and an active member of St. Joseph's Parish.
Stan will be missed by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann, Mandan; his children, Sandra (Dave) Ferderer, Mandan, Dennis (Lynn) Bader, Glenwood Springs, Colo., Karen (Keith) Anderson, Mandan, Sue (Kent) Kroeber, Denver, Colo., Rhonda (Randy) Schwartz, Denver, Carla (Bruce) Schultz, Mandan, Deanne Bader, Denver, Joan (Gerry) Meissner, Bismarck, Dean Bader (special friend, Pattie Helfrich), Mandan, Caryl (Lance) Cox, Centennial, Colo., and Danyl (Denise) Bader, Westminster, Colo.; his grandchildren: Jessica, Jennifer and Nena Ferderer; Kristen Gil, Kim Anderson; Brennan and Devon Schultz; Tiffany Silbernagel and Drew Meissner; seven great-grandchildren; his brothers, Don Heil, Minneapolis, and Dave (Shirley) Heil, Maple Valley, Wash.; and his sister, Marcie (Andy) Studaker, Minneapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Bader and Irene Heil.
