Great Falls—Joyce Marie (Flom) Fuhrmann, 72, of Great Falls passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Nashua, Montana on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Bonnie Novak officiating. Burial will take place at Nashua Cemetery. O'Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Joyce was born January 8, 1941 in McCone City in Montana. She attended Nashua Public Schools and obtained a GED.
Joyce enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, crocheting, quilting, candy making, cooking, baking and her parakeet "Baby".
At the age of 12, Joyce started working at her Aunty Ida's restaurant in Scobey. This is where she learned all her great cooking skills. She worked as a waitress at various restaurants in Scobey, Nashua, Glasgow and Great Falls. Joyce also worked as a clerk at Markles Hardware with CD, Tag, OE Markle and Carl Hansen. She spent many days packing boxes for North American Van Lines in Glasgow. After packing houses at the base, she went to work on the sewing line for Avco at Glasgow Air Force Base. She became the sewing line supervisor in a short time.
Sewing was an occupations Joyce enjoyed. She sewed clothes for many people including her three kids, and even worked at a costume shop. While working at the costume shop, Joyce and Bud participated in the Pet and Doll parade wearing Mickey and Minnie Mouse costumes. This was a prestigious event for her.
Mom worked hard raising 3 children and 2 grandchildren plus babysat numerous kids. But the biggest job she had was taking care of dad for the last 10 years.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Pamela (Don) Weinmeister and Wendy (Dean) Brandt; son Konrad (Tammy) Fuhrmann; sisters Phyllis Huston, Geraldine Dahl, Karen (Larry) Fuhrmann, Jackie (Bob) Bird; brother Kermit (Sharon) Flom; seven grandchildren, David (Robin) Weinmeister, Nick Weinmeister (Claudia Fischer), Tabitha Weinmeister (Jerami Brandt), Heather (Justin) Field, Heidi Brandt, Tia Fuhrmann (Justice Mael), Kurt Fuhrmann; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan and Cora Weinmeister and Mirax Lipscomb.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, both her parents, one sister and four brothers.
