You treated us all equally and knew us all individually. Because of your generosity, we have been blessed with traditions, education, vacations and a lot of great food. Anyone who sat at your table was a welcome guest. Ralf was born May 3, 1929 to Joseph Clyde Riches and Waldine Zimpleman. He married his sweetheart Lois Jean Keefer on March 3, 1951. Their union of 63 years included four sons, Ryan, Todd, Mark and Mike. While his sons were growing up he was President of the Holladay Boys Baseball League and coached a variety of their teams. His circle expanded to include seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He learned the value of hard work at an early age. His early employment included delivering ice for Hygia Ice Co. and becoming a teacher and principal at Libbie Edwards Elementary. His studies continued at the University of Utah where he received a doctorate degree in education. He retired in 1986 at the age of 57 as an assistant superintendent of the Granite School District. After retiring, he volunteered at Valley Mental Health and ran a successful business known as the Smog Shop with his son Mark. He was a long term member of Zions Lutheran Church, where he served as a popular Sunday School Teacher. Services will be conducted at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park 3401 Highland Dr. on Wednesday March 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation with the family will be held from 9:45 to 10:45AM. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
