Adella Nagel was born August 27, 1920 in Hebron, ND, the daughter of Henry and Lydia (Redman) Nagel. She grew up on the family farm east of Glen Ullin and attended Curlew Valley School #1. On September 17, 1940, Adella and Willie O. Wetzel were united in marriage. To this union three children were born: Donald, Phyllis and Darlene. The family made their home on a farm near Hebron until 1949. Adella, Willie and their children then moved to a farm east of Glen Ullin until February 1962. The couple owned and operated the LaWanda Motel in Glen Ullin until 1975. It was during this time that Adella and Willie built their home on the west side of Glen Ullin. In January 2014, Adella moved to Marion Manor.
Adella was a member of Evangelical Congregational Church in Glen Ullin and was very active in the church. She taught Sunday school and was a member and officer of the Ladies Aide. Adella was a real farmer’s wife; helping with any chore that took her outside. She could be found gardening and canning until the age of 92. Her lawn and garden were her pride and joy and was able to use her riding lawnmower until the age of 90. What a remarkable woman…
Adella is survived by her children, Donald (Irene) Wetzel of New Salem, ND, Phyllis (Harold) Kinsella of Mandan, ND, and Darlene (Rudy) Peltz of Bismarck, ND; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother Richard (Marion) Nagel of Bismarck, ND; sister Loretta Nordvedt of Apache Junction, AZ; and sister-in-law, Vera Nagel of Apache Junction, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lydia Nagel; husband, Willie; great-granddaughter, Amber Rose; sister, Hilda Benafeit; and four brothers, Henry, Ervin; Herbert, and Robert Nagel.
