  www.findagrave.com: www.findagrave.com/memorial/60168164/eugene-elmer-shipman Eugene Elmer Shipman was born March 10, 1923 near Norfolk, Nebraska to Elmer and Esther (Kurpqweit) Shipman and he died July 31, 2010 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 87 years. Eugene graduated from Fairfax High School in 1941. On September 28, 1945 he was united in marriage to Arline Horst. To this union two children were born: David and Barbara. He farmed his entire life in the Fairfax area. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Barbara and a great-grandson. Eugene is survived by his wife, Arline of the Wagner Good Samaritan Center in Wagner, South Dakota; his son, Dave (Deb) of Fairfax, South Dakota; his son-in-law, Don Hafer of Geneva, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Kelley (Shane) Kimbrough, Melissa Hafer, Julie Shipman, Angie Hafer, Jenna (Wade) Goering, Jill (Wes) Andrews and Ryan Hafer; seven great-grandchildren: Haley, Jacob, Carley, Dawson, Bryson, Grayson and Hayden; three brothers: Don (Phyllis) of Laramie, Wyoming; Ervin of Tucson, Arizona and Norman of Tucson, Arizona; and one sister, Maxine Delaney of the Lake Andes Nursing Home, Lake Andes, South Dakota. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Pickstown Community Church in Pickstown, SD. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery in Fairfax. There will be a prayer service on Tuesday at 7:00 PM at the church. Visitation will be one hour prior to both services at the church.
