The death of Hazel Nihart, 71, of Lake Benton, occurred at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, on Tuesday, July 2. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church in Lake Benton on Friday, July 5, with Rev. Ronald Bergquist officiating. Mrs. Keith Clipper was organist, and vocalists were Mrs. Ed Stricklin and Mrs. Ronald Bergquist.
Pallbearers were Richard Prinsen, Michael Strom, Steven Nihart, Dennis Nihart, Ronald Nihart, Ronald Wittrock and Gerald Mortland. Burial was in Memorial Hill Cemetery, Lake Benton with Utoft-Johansen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr.s Nihart was born Oct. 14, 1890 in Iowa to Silas and Mertie Minor. She married William Nihart and they lived in Lake Benton until his death, later which she resided in Tyler a number of years, later in the Canby vicinity. For the past year she had lived in Lake Benton.
Survivors included five daughters, Mrs. Paul Hind (Irene), Mrs. Neal Mortland ((Louise), of Arco, Mrs. (LeRoy Wittrock (Marlyn), Mrs. Walter Prinsen (Hazel), of Pipestone and Mrs. John Strom (Lucille) of Woodstock; three sons, True and Earl of the Twin Cities, and Marlin of Huron, S. D.; 41 grandchildren and 11 grandchildren.
