Funeral for Thomas Dale Reser, 82, Lawton, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church with the Rev. Richard Mayer, pastor, and Vicar Andrew Yeager, officiating.
Mr. Reser died Sunday, August 31, 2008, in Lawton.
Burial will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
He was born to Jesse and Inez (Broiles) Reser on August 25, 1926, in Cold Springs, Okla. He attended schools in Cold Springs, Roosevelt and Snyder before graduating from Granite High School. He entered the U.S. Navy and served for two years during World War II before returning to Granite to graduate. He married Betty M. Petzold on June 16, 1947, in Wellington, Texas. He worked for Borden Milk Company in El Paso and then moved to Silver City, N.M., to become owner of Borden Milk Distribution. He then came to Lawton and worked for Oklahoma Drug Sales, which later became Brittain Merchandising. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier for 25 years, retiring on Dec. 31, 1989. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Larry Reser, Edmond; a daughter and her husband, Karen and Alfred Espinoza, Lawton; one grandson, Jason Reser, Luther; three granddaughters, Christi Fowler and her husband, Keith, Oklahoma City, Kelly Espinoza, of San Antonio, Texas, and Carrie Espinoza, Lawton; one great-grandson, Zachary Reser, Luther; one brother, J. B. Reser and his wife, Beverly, Granite; one sister, Mary Lou, and her husband, Troy Shults, Del City; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Joyce Petzold, Granite; sister-in-law, Sue Petzold, Altus; and sister-in-law Margie Martin, of Gaithersburg, Md.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandson.
