According to family lore, Peter Wiest b. 1853 in Odessa, Russia came to this country in 1884 with his wife Elizabeth and daughter Pauline. They also traveled with a five-year-old who later became my grandfather. We believe the Wiest family listed in the 1900 census for Dickey County, North Dakota is the right family and may have found part of the children in the 1920 census in Minnesota. I know these are vague clues, but let me know if you have anything that matches. We know that Peter had at least one sister. My grandfather, Paul Ernest Wiest, was born to an unwed teenage mother. Later when she wanted to marry the man would not accept the child and he moved to America with his Uncle Peter. We know she married name is Hoggler, Hoaglund, or something similar. Any clues for me? I am trying to locate the records for Adam Schopp, who arrived in America in 1893, wife Christina Bechtold, born 1-2-1863 in Peterstal.
