Elsie Lippert, 94, a resident of Cashmere, WA for over 55 years, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013, at Blossom Creek Memory Care in Wenatchee, following an extended illness. She was born on April 14, 1918, on the family farm near Gackle, ND, to the late Michael and Amelia (Schadler) Gumke. She was raised and attended school in Logan County, near Gackle. She finished her formal primary education and went to work on the family farm. She met and was later married to George Edmon Lippert on February 10, 1938, at Gackle, ND. Following their marriage, they moved to Jamestown, ND. They returned to the family farm near Gackle in 1945, and in 1953, they began their adventure and headed west. They made their home in Dryden briefly, before making their permanent home in Cashmere in the mid 1950's. When her husband, George, started his own business, "George's Massage", she worked as the receptionist, bookkeeper and provided Laundromat services. She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Lippert on March 19, 1982. She remained at their home in Cashmere until moving to Blossom Valley Assisted Living in Wenatchee and recently moving to Blossom Creek Memory Care in Wenatchee. Elsie was a longtime member of the Cashmere Presbyterian Church. She was a former Deaconess and T.L.C. Volunteer at the Church and had been a volunteer serving hot lunches at the Vale Elementary School in Cashmere. She especially enjoyed her gardens and working with the flowers. She had an obsession with the weeds and loved to go fishing.
Elsie's family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Blossom Valley and Blossom Creek for their loving care during Elsie's final time. They would also like to extend a thank you to Dr. Valerie Kolokoff for her extra personal care.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harry and Janice Lippert of Wenatchee and Marvin and Cheryl Lippert of Cashmere; one daughter and son-in-law, Mavis and Robert Green of New York City, NY; two daughters-in-law, Kathy Lippert of Peshastin and Janet Lippert of Marysville, WA; two sisters, Frieda Rivinius and Violet Dorr, both of Everett, WA; one brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Clarice Gumke of Moses Lake, WA; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1982; one daughter, Donna Mae Lippert; two sons, Darrell Lippert and Larry Lippert; three brothers, Andrew, Edwin and Richard Gumke; two sisters, Anna Arneson and Lorraine Zimmerman; and one grandson, Curtis Lippert.
A Funeral Service is planned for Friday, February 1, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cashmere Presbyterian Church, with Graveside Interment immediately following at Cashmere Cemetery. Viewing will be on Thursday, January 31, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Heritage Memorial Chapel, 204 Cottage Avenue, Cashmere. Family and friends are invited to view her online tribute and leave memories and messages of condolences for her family. Arrangements are in the care of Heritage Memorial Chapel, Cashmere.
