Hilda Donat, 88, Bismarck, ND died Wednesday November 23, 2011 at the
Missouri Slope Care Center in Bismarck, ND.
Hilda Lehr was born April 10, 1923 on a farm southeast of Medina, ND, the daughter of Louis Lehr and Anna (Mueller) Lehr. She received her elementary education at the little country school in Bloomenfield Township south of Medina, ND.
She and Marvin Donat were married October 20, 1943 in Medina, ND. They made their home in Lodi, CA while her husband was overseas. She worked for the Caude Wood Cannery Cafeteria. After Marvin's discharge they returned to North Dakota living on several farms and in 1957 they moved into Medina. In 1964 they moved to Alfred, ND for 3 years, moving back to Medina in 1967.
She worked for Central Dakota Nursing Home for 16 months as a nurse's aide. Then she worked for the Medina Clinic for 15 years as the cleaning lady.
They moved to Jamestown in September of 2007. In August of 2009 they moved to the Edgewood Vista in Bismarck.
She was a member of the UCC Church in Medina and the Women's Fellowship of Medina.
She enjoyed gardening, fishing and giving home perms to her many friends.
She was well known for her homemade noodles she made for her family and friends for 40 years.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Donat, Bismarck, ND; 2 daughters, Verdina Christmas, Gordon, AL; Ardella Exum, Eufaula, AL; 5 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Louise Strehle, Wessington, SD, Joanne Lowerie, Lodi, CA
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Lelan, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday November 29, 2011 at the Zion United Church of Christ in Medina, ND with Vernon Bader, officiating.
The interment will be Medina Cemetery in Medina, ND.
Family will be receiving friends from 4:00 - 7:00 PM Monday @ the funeral home.
