Born in rural Campbell County, grew up in the area and attended rural school. He and his brothers, sheared sheep for many years in Campbell County.
Married Katherine Schaffer at her parent's farm. Farmed his grandparents farm for five years before purchasing his own property. Retired into Eureka. Made daily trips to the farm until his health failed.
Attended Gnadenfeld Baptist Church (rural Mound City) until it closed and then became a member of the Baptist Church in Eureka.
He loved farming and especially sheep.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth (Karen)) Quenzer of Artas, one daughter, Verlena (Harry) Mehlhaff of Eureka, four brothers, Edward, Albert, Johnnie and Karl; three sisters, Martha Renz, Irene Renz, and Esther Weidmier; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife his parents and three brothers.
