Bonita "Bonnie" Jean Reeser was born November 7, 1939 in rural Wessington Springs, SD, to Charles and Leone (Buchholz) Bennett. She moved with her family to Mill Creek Indiana in 1953 and graduated from Mill Creek High School in 1957. After she graduated she returned to South Dakota, working first in Sioux Falls for Western Electric, and later in Wessington Springs for the ASCS office.
Bonnie married Gene Reeser on April 22, 1961, at the Methodist Parsonage in Huron. She worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses in the Huron area, including the Plains and James River Equipment, where she retired. Bonnie enjoyed walking, golfing, painting, crocheting, and especially spending winters in Arizona.
Bonnie is survived by; her husband of 49 years, Gene; one son, Robert (Barbara) Reeser of Maize, KS; grandchildren, Dylan (Melissa Clyde) Reeser, Whitney (Austin Johnson) Reeser; step grandchildren, Ashley (Jai) Jefferies of Kona, HI, Sarah Jorgensen of Wichita, KS; brothers, Donald (Ruth) Bennett of Huron, David (Donna) Bennett of Huron, Gordon (Velma) Bennett of Austin, TX; sisters, Charlotte Freese of Clebur, TX, and Eileen (Kenneth) Hill of Hickory, NC; many nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by; her parents; brother, Eugene Bennett; nephew, Norman Bennett; and step grandson, Cory Weisser.
Her memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church in Huron with a private family burial prior to the service.
Memorial Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, June, 29 at Welter Funeral Home with family present from 5-7 p.m.; or one hour prior to service at the church on Wednesday. The family request memorials be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
