FERNE LEHMAN WENGER, age 94, of Mount Vernon passed away on Wednesday evening, November 20, 2013 at Autumn Health Care in Mount Vernon.
She was born on May 11, 1919 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Abram N. and Mary E. (Steckley) Lehman.
Ferne was a homemaker and a member of Gilead Mennonite Church near Mount Gilead. She was known for the beautiful quilts she made for family and friends. She was active in her church and worked as a volunteer in Pennsylvania for Ten Thousand Villages.
Ferne is survived by her daughter, Carol (Robert) Earle of Vernon, Vermont; grandchildren Allen (Deanna) Margavich and Isaac Earle of Vernon, Vermont; great-granddaughters, Alayna and Chelsea Margavich; sister, Sara Coolidge of Williamsport, Pennsylvania; brothers, Wilmer Lehman of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and Abram Lehman Jr. of Missouri; friend, Karen McClure and her family; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ferne was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wenger; sisters, Ruth Lehman and Pearl Stull; and brothers, Bruce and Carl Lehman.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2013 at the Gilead Mennonite Church, 6790 County Road 121, Mount Gilead, Ohio, with Pastor Sean Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Chesterville, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gilead Mennonite Church in Ferne's memory.
