Mary E. Crumley, 92, of Mount Joy passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy. Her husband, Lester M. Crumley died in 1999.
A resident of Hearthstone Manor and formerly of Mount Pleasant Road, Mary retired from Groff Meats, Elizabethtown in 1994. Previously she worked for the former Stehman's IGA, Mount Joy. An active member of Mount Pleasant Brethren In Christ Church, Mount Joy for over 80 years, Mary taught Sunday School and Bible School, served on the Church Board, and worked with the children's programs. She was also active in the Church Sewing Circle and the Golden Nuggets Club. Mary enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning and freezing what she grew. Her other interests included baking, knitting and sewing.
Born in Mastersonville, she was the daughter of the late Henry G. and Elizabeth Shelly Lehman.
Mary will be missed by her two sons, Donald, (Judy Zimmerman) Crumley of Mount Joy and Douglas E. Crumley of Lancaster; her daughter, Roberta (Gary) Waters of Mount Joy; three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; three brothers, Henry (Mildred) Lehman of Lancaster, Robert (Agnes) Lehman of Mechanicsburg, Clarence (Pat) Lehman of Canada; and three sisters, Mildred (David) Armacost of Baltimore, MD, Ethel Clark of Hershey, and Rhoda Myers of Annville. A grandson, Stephen Douglas Crumley, two sisters, Anna Grace Sparrow and Eva Myers, and three brothers, Jacob, Roy, and Earl Lehman preceded her in death.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mary's Funeral at Mount Pleasant Brethren In Christ Church, 1756 Mount Pleasant Rd., Mount Joy on Monday, August 22, 2011 at 11 am. Interment to follow in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may call at the Church on Monday from 10 until 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Pleasant BIC.
