Laura J. Hawbaker, 84, of 13851 Sunrise Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at Morning Glory Retirement Home, State Line, Pa.
Born July 1, 1914, in Pinola, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Howard E. and Florence Crusey Johnston.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Maugansville Bible Brethren Church in Maugansville, and taught Junior Sunday School classes in various other churches over the years.
She is survived by:
her husband, the Rev. Paul G. Hawbaker, whom she married Aug. 30, 1940;
two daughters, Delores Kuhn of Westminster, Md., and Linda Healan of West Hartford, Conn.;
two sons, Ronald Hawbaker of Boonsboro, and Paul E. Hawbaker of State Line;
a sister, Betty Perry of Mainsville, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Maugansville Bible Brethren Church, 17904 Binkley Ave., Maugansville. The Rev. John Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to services Tuesday.
